This introductory course teaches hunters fundamental long-range rifle skills for ethical shots at extended distances. Students learn proper rifle setup, external ballistics, wind reading, stable shooting positions, and range estimation to confidently and accurately engage game animals beyond traditional hunting ranges.
Key Outcomes:
- Understand ballistic trajectory and environmental factors affecting bullet flight
- Properly zero and validate rifle optics for long-range accuracy
- Read wind conditions and make appropriate holdover/windage corrections
- Achieve consistent hits on targets at 300-500 yards from field positions
- Apply ethical decision-making for shot placement at distance
Prerequisites: Basic firearm safety knowledge and prior hunting experience recommended.
Duration: 1 Day combining outdoor classroom instruction and live-fire range time.
